Blogs > Within and Inside

This blog is one about symbiosis. Its purpose is to help those out there going through hard times to find solace within. Through the act of questioning our society’s issues and dilemmas, as well as comparing large scale problems to personal ones, we can find a better understanding as who we truly are and how we truly operate. Once we have a firm understanding to this inner dimension our problems will seem less problematic.   This is, perhaps, the grandest of all goals.

Beyond Measure

Any amount of pressure will fold a man (or woman) into a ball. "Nature is brutal towards the weak, but not arbitrarily cruel" said Cesar Milan. During our darkest hours we feel the brunt of nature's fury. Many of us remain in a state of recoil, refraining from straightening out once more. You can see it in the average person's gait, their posture and their eyes. People are afraid; they're afraid to open up, to let loose and shine forth the beauty and power they hold within. Everyone has the potential to be great, but so few feel chosen to act on their nature. We have foolishly convinced ourselves that "I don't deserve". Nelson Mandela wrote "There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you". Yet, we do this all the time. We tell our children not to feel too good about their accomplishments or selves, lest they be viewed as "cocky" or "brash". It seems that so much time is spent on keeping face that no one pays attention to how they actually feel behind the façade. And while the gestures that we present are indeed the forefront of our presentations they are most certainly a reflection of an inner state.

Greatness spreads by example. Inspiration comes through witness of another's amazing achievements. "Your playing small doesn't serve the world." So, in that case, do something grand.

This is one where I don't completely agree with you. Parents do nothing but praise their child's every move and most of our children today feel entitled and accomplished with nothing to show for their heightened self-esteem. Trophy's are handed to every child with a jersey and the truly gifted are lumped in with the mediocre just so we don't risk hurting anyones feelings. -Stephanie Wells

It guess I find it hard to believe that a man so shallow is bragging about his writing skills. I mean, your thoughts, Marquis, are young, immature and untried by any real experience; the stuff you write is like soup made out of grass and twigs. I mean, you are saying nothing.

You appear to be extremely narcissist - a common dilema of our times: you do not measure yourself against any frame of authority but yourself. Why should anyone listen to you? Because you're a nice guy?

Men and women need a moral compass in order to operate with integrity; they need a belief in God and they need to fear doing what is wrong. Right from wrong used to be taught by parents, but has been largely cast aside. Since a fear of God is largely missing in our society, people are believing - wrongly, as you do - that good morality comes from one's inner frame of mind.

An Old Testament writer had this to say about the human condition and the human heart: "Who can know it? It is deceitfully wicked." In the New Testament in the book of Romans, the Apostle Paul writes, "I know that nothing good lies within me... the good I want to do I do not do, but the evil. Who will deliver me from this body of death?" The human condition is rotten, horrible. The cause of pain and anguish in our world is sin, something too deep for you to imagine.

"If any of you lacks wisdom let him ask God, who gives freely and without reproach." This is from the book of James in the New Testament.
Why not do some reading in the Bible, which may form in you a reality and a morality which you seem to be lacking in your shallow world.

You need some sense - badly. What pathetic writing.

I love it when people reply to these 150+ worded blogs complaining about their lack of depth. What is your point or purpose? Have you replied to this posting out of your love to "God"; are you here to "smite" me down for my perceived lack of faith; or, are you writing out of a personal need to defend your own egotistical viewpoint?
You claim I am narcissistic, yet you do not know me or the perception behind my writing. I appreciate criticism, but this sort of shallow, religious, judgmental trash is exactly what I was speaking of when I wrote the article.
Reply to my writing when you develop thoughts of your own.

"2:49" sounds pretty arrogant himself, for someone complaining about how narcissistic another person is. Take the plank out of your eye, buddy. --KMG

Every day when the sun is warmly embracing the horizon I become encompassed with a feeling that no words could ever describe. This may be partially due to the lack of literal expression the sun provides me for its reason of "being", which in turn it renders me speechless. Absolute truth does not come in the form of words, books, blogs, or opinions. It comes when you allow everything that you see to become apart of what you are. Truth is not understood, it just happens. Marquis is clearly trying to help people define there own path to becoming more enlightened and ultimately conscious. Wether you embrace or erase his ideas, there is no doubt that when you were reading his blog you questioned your own at the same time. Do yourself a favor and don't be afraid of change. And if a question arises that you can't answer with words, and it resonates deep within your being, embrace it.
