Blogs > Within and Inside

This blog is one about symbiosis. Its purpose is to help those out there going through hard times to find solace within. Through the act of questioning our society’s issues and dilemmas, as well as comparing large scale problems to personal ones, we can find a better understanding as who we truly are and how we truly operate. Once we have a firm understanding to this inner dimension our problems will seem less problematic.   This is, perhaps, the grandest of all goals.

The Great Awakening

For years I spent my life searching for a way to end the drama in my life. I wanted to find that "technique" or solution that would somehow trigger the off switch in my brain so that I may cease the insanity that perpetuates so much negativity. And, I found many great solutions. I found hundreds of answers that would divert, turn around, make me aware of and change the way I saw the world. However, as many times as I had such an awakening, something akin to what those in the Zen tradition would call satori, my thoughts would revert back to their usual pattern. Yes, I grew in knowledge of how and why I and the rest of the world should and could wake up out of that slumber-like mode of living but application is key, and not just for one to twenty four hours.

However, out of my wonderfully horrid issues I began to notice something within the patterns of perpetual madness. And this was an awakening that didn't bring anything knew. I noticed that I was creating my problems. I noticed that something within me resonated with every issue I had ever gone through and even those issues that seemed totally external, the ones that were brought upon me with no connection, seemingly, on my end, it was how I dealt with them that caused my strife. At this point I began to ask a new question. What if I am not here to awaken? What if I am here to deal with my problems and not escape them?

            To be continued…

A Unified Separation

A Unified Separation

As in the birth of an infant or the blossom of a flower there is something within the Human Being beckoning for conception. Though not all of us aware, bubbling within the depths of our consciousness is an awakening, a stepping into a new reality. What is this reality? As Alan Watts so simply put it "We are all one."

However, what does that mean? And, more importantly, what does that mean for you? Too often such a statement gets thrown into a category of metaphoric gibberish or at best it is viewed upon as "newagee" or irrelevant arbitrary nonsense. However, to further clarify and perhaps open a few eyes I suggest a couple of contemplations. The first contemplation is on your body, the physical manifestation of your experience. Pay attention to what you control and what you don't (you will notice that much, like the flowing of your blood, you have no say in whatsoever). Second, I want you to watch a video online titled "Extreme Tooth Magnification". This video will take you, with real images, from a whole tooth to the individual atoms that make it up. I then want you to contemplate on the notion that you too are like an atom, combining and connecting a being we call Earth.

Now, "We are all one." What does that mean?
